Samsung TS-360 defect?

I have noticed that the Samsung TS-360 that Directv sent as a replacement reciever for my HTL-HD, wont do captions with the cable wire into the reciever. I don't have to have it like that but its more convenient since I don't have to pick up a second remote. Can someone else, see if theirs (Samsung TS-360) works on a hookup like that?

I also tried the video from my digital cable into the Samsung and it doesn't do captions on that either.

I am not having trouble with captions on Satellite.

I can do it 2 ways. Run the video out from my Digital Cable reciever to the video in on the Samsung, or run the cable wire in to where it says "cable" on the reciever. Either way there isn't any captions. Also on SVIDEO, there isn't any captions there either.

None of my inputs sends captions except the Directv channels coming from the DVI CONNECTION and also I can use Componet. I think its a defect because those connections should pass the captions.
