Samsung "Slimfit" 30in CRP

I believe I saw something in CR about the next wave of widescreen CRTs being the short box version. If weight and size are down, great. CRTs do still produce some of the nicest PQ.

However, I expect these DTVs will be priced at a premium for several years. My other concern is for the first generation of them. When they tried this a few years ago with computer monitors, there were a lot of technological problems. I expect there will be some distorted picture problems with the early versions of these new DTVs also.

Crp

This unit's msrp is $1,199 and is supposed to be out by June. Samsung's press release states that is has an intergrated HDTV tuner which will accept 720p and 1080i sources. No mention of what the connection options will be. If they come out with a 34in with DVI or HDMI I might be tempted to replace my Panisonic which only has component connections. Forgot to mention that CRP is "Cathode Ray Panel", but you probably knew that already. I agree about the first gen of sets. I'll wait and see what happens.
