I just bought a Samsung DTB H260F HDTV receiver and hooked it up to an analog tv. Have a CM4228 antenna & get crystal clear analog UHF reception where I'm pointing. When I turn the HDTV receiver on, I can tell by the TV screen something's happened, but actually see nothing & cannot access any menus. Pretty certain it's hooked up correctly & have tried different switch settings on the rear panel. Any suggestions?

I've had a few of those receivers and it's always been that the output switch on the back was set wrong when I wasn't getting video. Sometimes you have to unplug it, set the switch and power it back on.

Have you tried all of the outputs (HDMI, Component, Composite) to see if they are all dead? Is the blue light on the front coming on?

I was trying to use the composite video ouput and different settings & got nothing. I'm using now the component jacks, and have gotten the menues & nice video. I really wanted to go thru an old VCR, for taping, but looks like that might not happen. Tomorrow will try hooking the VCR to the composite video & will see if that works, now that the channels are locked in. Worse comes to worse, I'll get a combo VCR/DVD with component inputs. Probably would make it easier for me, anyway.

I think I read on another board that this box only outputs the screen graphics (current channel, menus, etc.) through HDMI and component outputs so that may be an issue.

When using the composite video, you have to have the output set to 480i. But you won't get the channel display or menus.

After tinkering this AM, it is true you lose the on screen displays with the composite connections, but it will output a picture to my TV with the switch set at 480i or 480p. My TV has multiple inputs, so am able to view from the componet video on one and the composite on another. On the composite, though, the picture is a bit "washed out" looking, even compared to regular cable TV & lacks the vibrance of color which comes with the component video. But guess it'll have to do if I want to tape something.

I just got this box, and my S-Video is active at the same time as the 1080i component output. No guide info on the S-Video or composite, but that's ok.

This box has great reception, and the hard to find squeeze (aka anamorphic SD) mode that the Voom box had! It squeezes the 16:9 HD picture to 4:3 (so you can record it in 4:3). Then when you play it back, most TVs will just do a 16:9 stretch, and wha-la, back to the original 16:9 size! Good stuff.

I still have to get used to the guide. Looks like it loads it in as you tune to each channel. So if you are on 2, and press guide, it "locks up" and tunes to 4,5 & 7 and gets the guide info for each, then displays the guide for channels 2-7.

With the performance of this box, I am very tempted to cancel Verizon FiOS and just use OTA. (The new FiOS Guide is unusable for me.)

I'm gonna sell mine since I'm not using it. Anyone interested? I'll be posting it in the classifieds. $65.00 + shipping. I only used it for 6 months.

The menu and guide are only available with HDMI or component output.

Antenna Preamp suggestion?
