Ok, so my father in-law asked me to hook up his old dish and receiver to get the FTA channels. The receiver is a Samsung DSR 3700, and I have the dish aimed to Galaxy 19. The strange thing is that the receiver does not list Galaxy 19, but I can select Telestar 5 which shows 97W. I am getting a signal strength of 70-80% but no qualtiy signal. Is there settings I need to change?

Galaxy 19 is now the satellite at 97W, T5 was there before. Doesn't matter, the only thing that counts is the orbital position (97W). Are you certain the dish is properly aimed? Dishpointer is an excellent aiming tool.

The best way to aim a dish is to take the receiver and a small TV or portable DVD player with video in to the dish site. Move the dish very slowly right-left (azimuth) and up-down (elevation) in the direction shown on Dishpointer until you get quality. Signal only means the LNB is connected.

You are on the right track

You also may want to check out this page.

Satellite Finder / Dish Pointing Calculator with Google Maps | DishPointer.com

This will help get you close (which it sounds like you are already close). The key is to systematically try very small changes until you get some quality.

Make sure your LNB is either Standard or Single in the the receiver and the LNB Freq is set to 10750

BTW, :welcome to Satellite Guys !!
