Sounded like an interesting 1.0 player. I was kind of wanting to see how it does.

I wanted to see what this would do video wise with the Reon chipset, even though it is/was? profile 1.0. I liked the 1400's ability to send bitstream, but I was not impressed with its video capabilities. I've seen several setups and there is a lot of grain present that I do not see with my Panasonic (same titles).

I have some interest in going back to dual format with the Samsung BD-UP5000 dual format player if it can decode or bitstream pass-through DTS-HD MA and TrueHD and support at least BD1.1. Since that same WesleyTech article confirming the cancellation of the 2400 indicates the 5000 is pushed back to December, it seems like it will have to support BD 1.1. And this review at HDGuru indicates that, like the 1400, it will at least support bitstream pass-through. And it has the Reon chipset.

It sounds pretty good; I'll be watching it as the release date gets closer.
