S/W Loader Mercury II question

Okay guys,

When the Loader tells you that it is ready, what do I do next? I know kind of a stupid question. I have turned on the receiver but nothing is happening. It just says"READY". READY FOR....HELP!

Did you select "Download"? If so, then you should then select a file, and be prompted to turn on stb. Turning it on starts the download to receiver. If it doesn't work , maybe you aren't using a null modem cable, but rather a straight thru cable , which doesn't work on the Merc. I don't see anywhere that it says "Ready," either. Are you sure its the loader from Fortecstar ?

Yes it is. I got it from Fortecstar website today. I'm using a USB 2.0 to Rs232 cable to hookup the receiver to the computer.

I'm guessing that the USB to RS232 conversion is not smooth, or, if the cable is right, then pins 2 and 3 need to be reversed, because of the usb adaptor. I have a REAL rs232 port on my computer ( old fogy that I am) !

[edit] Anybody around you have a desktop with an Rs232 port that you could take the merc over there ?
