What I have is the hd dvr on 1 tv and just a reg box on the bedroom tv I meant to order a dvr sd for the bedroom so tomoorow Im geting the dvr sd for the bedroom.

Heres my ? I have another bedroom that needs tv hooked to it. I want to know if I can splice into bedroom 1 tv and hook it to tv 2 to view the same program on both tvs. Im sure the answer is yes but will the remote work in the bedroom without the box.

If the answer is no then I might as well keep the the box without the dvr and put it in the 3rd bedroom

You have an IR remote it uses an infra red beam of light to control the receiver. IR won't pass through the wall it needs to be converted to UHF radio waves and then converted back to IR. There are many adapters available from probably $25-100. Or for $60 a year you can use the basic receiver at $5/mo.

Both the SD and HD DVRs support the use of RF with the remote. If your DVR doesn't come with a RF-capable remote (and antenna for the DVR if applicable), you can order a replacement from Directv.

just thought a little clarification was in order. rf remote works through walls. easy way to tell if remote is rf-capable is if it has an fcc sticker on back. reciver and remote need to be set to rf mode( menu, settings, remote).

Ok so does anyone know if the reciever will have the rf remote I just signed up on thursday and will recieve the new reciever today but Im not sure what model they will bring and if it has RF. I know the hddvr has it but I was not sure if the sd one would.

thanks for the replys

if your are asking if you can swap your hr20 remote for your r15 and vice-versa then yes. keep in mind that you may need to reprogram remotes for tv's in their new location.

You also will need to re-program the remote to work the correct receiver.

unless the remote that came with the hr20 was changed to rf mode on the hr20 it will not need to be reprogramed to work another reciver(d10,11,12 r15 h20). the remotes for these models are inter-changable until, if applicable, switched to rf mode.

Really ????
I did not know that they would work other rec's until the change ...
I know the older types worked that way, but just figured all the newer ones were programmed to the rec it cane with.

Thanks !

Well I was not sure if the remote would reach the reciever if I was in the other room. It would have to go through 2 walls so I ended up keeping the box for the other room.

Now if I decided to try it would I have to split the signal coming out of the sat box going to the tv. Not before it goes in the sat box reason I ask is beacuse the room with no box is closer to the sat dish on the house then it is to the reciever in the other room.

I had dish network before with the 622 and the set up was easier as far as cables go 1 cable to each room instead of running to for the dvr casue they split it coming out of the box instead of running 2 cables.

no splitters between dish and reciver. after reciver is fine.
