Since the DVB World box only supports USB2, I am not able to use it with a certain laptop computer because the computer only has an old usb port. However, I see that there are PCMCIA to USB2 adapters on the market which are extremely cheap.

Anyone running on a setup like this?

I was just interested in using the laptop for standard definition, I know it does not have the guts to run anything other than that.

I've used the PCMCIA -> USB2 cards before and they work well. As far as the laptop goes, I would make sure that it is atleast 500mhz...more is better. Also, is it running Windows XP? I can't remember, but I think USB2 only runs with XP. Make sure you've got all of the "junk" turned off (other programs, system alert, etc) so that your computer can be dedicated to the satellite decoding and not distractions, lol. You should be set after that.

but I think USB2 only runs with XP.

Not quite right. USB 2.0 is supported by service pack 4 under windows 2000. So, if your running windows 2000 make sure you have service pack 4 installed and you should have USB 2.0 support (provided of course you have usb 2.0 hardware). I still run windows 2000 sp4 myself and have a dvbworld usb adapter. It works fine.
