RUMOR: Echostar buying Voom?

Dish would only really want the VOOM satellite and transponders. The FCC could not really stop the satellite from being sold, but they could cause problems with the transponders.

Echostar 3 is a having a lot of problems and probably will have to be replaced soon. Buying Rainbow 1 on the cheap could save Dish money. Then again Rainbow-1 is a pretty powerful spot beam satellite. It could be possible that Dish could use the spots to do HD LIL for tier 2 markets (assuming they do a single dish solution for the top markets using AMC-15 and AMC-16).

Jeff, the 2 dish installation problem only concerns local channels. All of your local channels must be available on 1 dish. Even if that dish is 61.5

Oh ya, well I heard Krispy Kreme donuts was gonna buy Voom! Seriously, you guys crack me up. Nobody knows for sure what is gonna happen. Why don't you all just chill and wait until there is some real news. Face it, there's nothing you can do to affect the outcome.

Voom has a whole lot of baggage.

E* or D* only want the satellite and the spectrum. Thats it.

They don't want the company or the rest of the mess. It will be a fire sale at best.

Voom will have to pay for early termination fees to Lockheed lots of other stuff. It will be lucky to get out from $100 million in the hole
