RTPi on 97W

Anyone have any tips for trying to find 97W. I am trying to find RTPi, ever since it moved from 101W. I have my mercury II receiver tuned to the strong transponder, 12177 V 23000 and 12152 H 20000, but i haven't had any luck trying to pick it up.

I have one of those small satellite finders but it doesn't sit at five with the slightest adjustment on the finder its either at 0 or hitting 9.

RTPi comes in strong here in Ct on 12060/H/22000 97w.Having problems finding 97w?? what other sats in the area have you found.

For Hartford, 97W is about 2.4 degrees higher and 5 degs to the west of 101W.

Mark the mast while aimed at 101W and them move the dish about 1/8th of an inch to the East on the mast. Lower the elevation down about 2 1/2 degrees. Don't worry about the skew for now.

With the receiver and a small TV out at the dish, set the receiver on Frequency 12152 H 20000 and view the signal quality. Slowly pan from side to side, if you don't find it raise the dish 1/2 degree and repeat. If no show lower dish 1 degree and repeat. Make sure there are no trees or buildings in the way! Once you find it and tweak the elevation and azumuth settings - then tweak the LNB three degrees or so to the left as you face the dish. Then tweak the focus of the LNB by sliding in and out for maximum signal Quality (SQ). Do not try to do this with out the receiver/TV viewable from the dish.

I live in CT too, 97w is a hard bird I used a 6 feet Foltec and I cant get a strong signal with the Birdog, I found it next to 95w and I got to tilt ( screw) the Ivacom to the right to get a good signal. If you live in Fairfield county and you have the right dish I can help with my Birdog is easier than the small finder......for free

colonel I live at the opposite end of the state about 30min. north of the casinos.

Next Sunday I will give it another go with a tv outside next to the satellite dish, patience seems to be the key! Thanks for all your help!
