Roku Vs Smart TV

ROKU3 & KFOR4 OKLAHOMA CITY -- During the recent tornado outbreak I was able to watch local live coverage of KFOR via the ROKU3. The picture was of LOUSY quality, but it was nice to have the access.

And that is the key that nobody has mentioned. The smart TVs and BluRay players give you a fixed set of apps. They control which ones you can add. Roku has a richer store and also has the ability to connect to 'private' or unlisted channels through a standardized interface. If the program provider allows it, it is available on ROKU.
