Why is there no hockey on Rogers Sportsnet in HD ?

Because Rogers HD is a national channel and they have no hockey contract with the NHL. They do have regional contracts with some teams. That's why some Sportsnet channels show hockey only in their region. These games are blacked out in the rest of the country.

Apparently Rogers is considering doing some games in HD; but this would mean blackouts to viewers outside the home team's protected area.
