Hello,
the Ultra has the usual component output (Y, Pb and Pr).
How can I change the output mode to provide an RGB signal?
(I found out that the mpeg processor does have that ability but one needs to reprogram it to have RGB delivered at the ports in the back of the RX.)
Are there hidden menus which would be of use?
Is there software that can be used (via DB9)?

Can you help?

Regards

Manual with my ultra says push the Color button on the remote, if you are connected using the component cables-you will get some extra options to adjust the picture . With the video cables or s-video I think all you will get is a way to adjust brightness and a set of color bars to look at. Never messed with mine, it seems ok as it came here.

Can't find any "hidden" menus on mine....the manual just mentions that if the component cables are hooked up, there are extra options to adjust the RGB signals but those options are not avail if you are using just the rf out or video cables. Sorry I can't find anything else about it, nor can I find any other info inthe manual about it.

Janin,
I think I misunderstood the question you asked, after going to the wikipedia and reading about the difference RGB to YPbPr (Component video - Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia)

Answer is mostly the same though: apparently this is the type of signal that
the ultra is putting out thru the component jacks, and there aint no way to change it! Wonder how many other fta boxes do this too....
Maybe the S-video plug could be combined with some type adapter to switch the output to what you want.

I don't think most receivers will output component in any other flavor than YPbPr. I ran across this problem while trying to connect my Visionsat to the unused VGA (analog) input on my Samsung 22" PC flatscreen. My solution was to use a YPbPr to RGB transcoder made by DVDO, which works flawlessly for that purpose. I simply switch sources on my PC monitor to go between my Visionsat (analog VGA input) and extended HD desktop from my PC (digital DVI input) :)
