RF to HDTV in second room

You can pick up a 2nd UHF remote and set it up for TV1 (a 6.3 or the newer 21.0). Then you can leave the 722 in Dual Mode, view HD from TV1(on the HDMI input) or if the need arises to have 2 channels at the same time you can watch in SD on the 2nd TV(on the modulated channel) and control it with the oririginal remote.

How does the UHF remote work? I was thinking of putting the vip722 in the bedroom and hooking it up with component and coax to the tv. Then running a 50ft hdmi cable to the livingroom tv from tv1 input. But then I got thinking that if it's dual mode I wouldn't be able to change the channels for tv1. Would this kit work. I would much rather run one cable (hdmi) to tv1 and keep the box in the bedroom because that is the only time I would every need to switch it from dual mode to single mode is when I'm in the bedroom.

Get a 21.0 remote off ebay, lots of them on there the last time I looked. Take the plastic "chip" out (remove the battery cover 1st) and turn it over from "2" to "1". Go to your receiver and press SYS INFO. Now hit the RECORD button on the new remote. TV1 will now say DishPro IR/UHF. TV1 can now be controlled via UHF OR IR. You may have to set/change the remote address as well. The instructions to do that are in your manual. Hope this helps!

BTW, disregard anyone telling you the 21.0 won't work with your 722. It WILL. I use one with a 622, another with my 722. IMHO opinion it works better than the 6.3. More responsive and it's a learning remote if you have any equipment that doesn't have a code.

Absolutely!:up

When you figure out how to change modes remotely let me know! LOL:)

Merry Christmas!

Another BTW, one of my 21.0s works through at least 5 walls..............

ATSC isn't simple

It isn't as simple to build an ATSC RF modulator as it was the NTSC modulators. Due to the fact that ATSC is 8VSB it takes more to design and build one. At some point someone may come up with a chip set to do it but right now I cna't find one tha isn't a commercial version that cost several hundred $$. So simplest thing for your friend to do is run an HDMi to the room or 2 audio lines for sound and use the coax with an RCA to coax output adapter for composite video. Thrid thing is to run 3 video coax & 2 audio for component.

I modulate both DVR outputs onto a n OTA antenna coax and send them to the rest of the house. This allows all TVs to get the two SD Dish outputs (and they can remote switch TV2 with the RF remote) or they can get all locals in HD. Only the primary system gets Dish HD, but it saves a ton of money over time.

I don't think NTSC tuners are required anymore, but I think almost all models still have them, for the uses states.

Hopefully, people are moving from feeding their TVs with coax from the cable box, to some other method that provides better PQ.

Got the 21.0 remote today and it's going to work great. I'm going to put the vip722 in the bedroom upstairs with component cable then run a 50ft hdmi to livingroom tv. I will also hook up coax also so when it's in dual mode I can watch something different. I would much rather have it in the bedroom as my living room tv is always going to be on hdmi input. It's a bigger and better tv. The problem is now I forget to switch it before I go to bed then I have to get up and switch it or yell at the person in the other room to switch it. Having the box in the bedroom makes more sense to me as the only time I switch it now is when I want to watch something different in the bedroom.

Can anyone recommend a good HDMI cable?

Get a cheap, flexible one. Several sources, no-name brands OK. Avoid Monster - good, and good looking, but WAY overpriced.

I have heard the 22 awg are the best but not flexible. What about 24 awg. I will be going thru a wall but probably not using wall plates so I want it to bend into the tv and dish box.
