Revolution

Now as for this mysterious pendant with the flash drive in it, the attic scene at the end totally blew it for me. That brings it to a level where we should probably expect aliens to land during the next couple episodes. It wasn't even like she plugged the pendant into the computer and it had some stored power, it's got 'magical proximity power'.

I am under the assumption that some group invented a device that stops electrons from flowing in wire, perhaps a strange energy field that dampens the flow or something. The field expanded out from a device to cover the world. This would explain the electricity going out as you watched it spread instead of instantly going out. The small devices shown with the USB drive block the field for a limited area, allowing electrons to flow.

Of course even this theory has a lot of issues, like how are people still alive if electrical impulses from the brain are not able to get down to the heart? It is simply a fantasy scenario that one has to accept for the show.

This sure is an active thread for a show or questionable quality and longevity. Anyway, good ratings for an NBC premiere:

10 p.m.
NBC: "Revolution" series premiere (11.7 million, 7.1/11)
ABC: "CMA Music Festival (5.96 million, 4.0/6)
CBS: "Hawaii Five-0" rerun (4.4 million, 3.1/5)
Unfortunately premeire ratings are only dependent on advertising/hyping and what the competition is running.

The 2nd week ratings will be more telling. I'm thinking a huge drop.

That's what I was thinking. It's actually possible to disrupt electricity on a small scale like that. Somehow they've done it on a world wide scale.

Even so, why are they using crossbows & muskets? Modern guns don't require electricity. As for ammo, I have a manual press machine to do shotgun shells. Even then, there were springfield repeaters way back in the 1800's.

They are using crossbows and muskets because the totalitarian thugs have disarmed the people. Or more likely, the still extant feds and state governments pulled a "Katrina" in the aftermath of the blackout and confiscated all the guns.

Soldier: "Don't you know owning a firearm is a hanging offense?"
Villager: "Well go hang yourself then."

But why even the militia is using muskets other than the one guy who used a modern handgun? I just feel like some more background on that stuff would be helpful. It won't stop me from watching, just kind of bugs me I guess

Easier to produce musket balls and black powder than to make bullets? Or maybe it's a control thing, militia grunts are less likely to mutiny if their superior officers have semi automatic weapons while they only have single shot ones?

No doubt these theories make sense, like I said, not really a big issue. Just one of those things you know. :)

It's only been 1 episode, you cant get all the back story in 1 episode.

That is true, that's why I was thinking a 2 hour premier may have been better. As it is there was virtually no background. I feel y that may deter viewers.

The pilot was good. Not seeing hunger games, but Jericho meets the stand meets a new Middle Ages.
The girl with the cross bow didn't remind you of the Hunger games? Not to mention the post apocalyptic American background. NO there was no Tribute in children ,but there was taxes to be paid to the mercenary.

Now that was interesting.

Again, I am disappointed that all these survivalist hunters don't realize they should put a bullet in the leader's head before taking on the grunts.

Boy, what a disappointing second episode! The only thing it had going for it was that it answered a lot of the questions many had here about the guns and other minutia of this universe. Other than that, it was a train wreck!

I barely managed to get through it; and I am not even sure I watched half of it. Classic network tv --- no I should be more specific -- classic NBC - sci fi fail. Maybe it will bounce back. I'll give it another episode or two, but it best improve soon. :)

Too funny! There are a lot of good shows that don't generate 1/10th as many posts. Anyway, I saw the show earlier this evening. Well, let's just say it wasn't a complete waste of time...I did manage to iron three shirts and a two pair of slacks while watching. However, I wasn't impressed.

I told y'all. It's a klinker of a show and it won't last . I don't expect it to last into the new year.

I like the show, just feels like something is missing.
