I'm looking for software or a calculator for satellite locating. But, I need something that works in reverse. That is, instead of giving me the azimuth and elevation to point my dish at a specific satellite from a given location, I need to enter a location, azimuth, and elevation and find out what satellite the dish is pointed at. During a recent trip, I visited a couple places who were receiving satellite programming. They were pretty sure the programming was available for anyone, but had no idea of the technical specifications as to which satellite or transponder. I was able to get the location, azimuth, and elevation and was hoping to figure out what satellite they were looking at to look up available programming.

Thanks for any ideas.

With that information I'm sure I could go to DishPointer.com and trial and error until I picked the right satellite. Wouldn't take long :)

Much more easy even: go to the WF Toroidal calculator (technology -- calculator) from satlex (meant for the T55/T90 dish): SatLex Digital :: Technology :: Calculators :: WF Toroidal Calculator

Enter site latitude and longitude, and some east and west outer satellites,

and the calculator will give the azimuths and elevations of ALL satellites inbetween!
(So you just have to pick the targetted satellite from that list. That's all.)

Is there any decent channels left on c-band?

AVL 1278 Antennas, what are they good for?
