When asked about the methodology he answered:

With my 169time setup I record to tape on D-VHS deck, use D-VHS deck connected to PC to transfer the tape recording's to PC, use TSreader to get video bitrate reading's

I'm a tape guy so I don't record to PC

Wow, EquatorHD is now 1920x1080i @ 18 mbps!!! I haven't watch it in the last few weeks (too busy watching NBA playoffs :D). I'll have to check it out this weekend.

I can tell that RUSH is lower. Seeing sparkles that I have not seen before on same material. Out of Bounds is one example

I already gave the PUB members the reason why these channels are at 1280. Should they put them back at 1920 rigth now (as some have suggested), all the 6000 subs will be up and arms when they see their unit not working or at least not seeing the channels. Whether a compromise will be made at 1280 or 1440 it is not known yet. One thing for sure is that the testing is still going on.

I don't get the bandwidth deal that the 6000 models cant handle if those channels were at 1920. Dish has 3 channels per tp at 1920 on 110 so why cant voom do the same?

Did you read my technical note on the PUB? It explains the limitation of the 6000 unit. Nothing to do with how many channels per TPs.

I'm curious on why TNT has a different audo rate in DD5.1. Someone?

I'm also curious. When ever I have that channel on, especially NBA games, I get serious low end overload on my DD/DTS wireless headphones.

I don't recall where exactly the note is but I think it's about the 6000s not being able to process transponders above a certain Mbps.

But what I'm saying if Dish is using a Mbps that the 6000 can read that they're using on the 3tp 1920 channels at 110, why cant they set up the voom transponders at 61.5 in the same way?

Am I communicating ok?

The problem is on the bandwith that the 6000 can handle. The VOOm stb was able to process a heavier payload of bandwith than the 6000. The 6000 can't handle the same payload.

Yes I got that.

So they put it at a bandwidth the 6000 can handle, and move the 1280 channels to 1920 and it would be exactly like the bandwidth the 6000 can handle at 110 that also has 3 hd channels at 1920

Initially they were at 1440 (the 6000 can handle that) but dish requested them to be lowered to 1280 because they wanted to do their own test. After Dish were done with their test, they were supposed to go back to 1440 and then they will start testing at 1920. That was the process.

Does anyone have an aswer why TNT's audio rate is higher than the rest? Sean, I don't see that explained in the pub notes, but maybe I overlooked it.

Also, why can't they lower the animation resolution and raise one of the other channels for testing? I am still confused on the animation being in such high resolution, I don't see much improvement on old stuff, sometimes it even looks worse.

That is something that you must ask them. Why the selected those 4 channels as 1920 is anybody's guess...

Ok, I was just wondering if anyone here knew they answer. Of course I doubt they will ever give a reply to an email on this, but worth a shot.... off it goes.

This may be a dumb question but...

Just wondering about 5.1 surround. Are all shows in HD on the Voom and HD pack in DD 5.1?? I've noticed that some of the Voom programs show 5.1 on the info screen and some don't. But they all for the most part seem to be in DD 5.1 or DD 2.1 at least. Does anyone have any input on this?
