My r15 500 dvr tends to reset itself. It does this around once a month to two months. I don't mind that it happens. I even heard occationally reseting your reciever is good for it and will make the reciever last longer. It is connected to a surge protector, as is the tv, dvd, tuner and sub woofer. Only the tv and r15 are on, everything else is turned off. The outside powerline are overhead on poles. It's about 80°, no winds, with few clouds. It takes around 5 minutes when it happens. Is this a normal thing for dvr's or is it a possible power problem like a serge and the reciever resets as a means of protecting itself. Does this happen to other types of recievers, sd, hd, sddvr, and hddvr?

My first thought is the box is not venting off heat correctly.

Is this box out in the open, or enclosed?

Is it clean inside, relatively dust free at the vent and fan area?

The box is on its own shelf of the entertainment unit. The back of the unit has four holes at different heights for wires, and glass doors on the front. The vent holes on the side and bottom of the box are clean, the fan works and the internal temp is between 118° and 127°.
