Reset Channel Numbers on Coolsat 4000?

Is there a way to reset the channel numbers on a Coolsat 4000? Now that I've gone through the arc and have scanned/added/deleted channels, I've got only 30 or so channels I want, but the numbers are in the thousands. I'd like to have channels 1-30 or whatever.

Any ideas?

Hmmm, I guess I didn't ask my question clearly... I have deleted channel I don't want, and I've already sorted them the way I want. Now what I want is to renumber the channels I have so that the first channel is channel 1, and then 2, 3, 4, etc... What I have now is... 9, 100, 101, 102, 333, 2001, 2003, etc

it shouldnt be....when I scan and remove channels mine are listed
0001
0002
0003
0004
etc

if channel 0050 is there and I remove 40-49 as an example, now 0050 becomes 0040

Mine definitely doesn't work like that.

I wonder if it's a difference in the binary? Do you know what version firmware are you have in your coolsat 4000? I haven't done anything with mine, but I got it second-hand, so I'll check the version when I get home.

I have a 5000 which is pretty much the same thing and its version 1.00

if you do have it "secondhand" then it might have some old hackware in it which makes what you're saying possible with the channel lists

I concure with Iceburg, if your channel numbers are in the thousands, it's probably running hackware. one of the things hackware authors do is make it so normal FTA channels go into a range that doesn't conflict with the Dish channel number ranges.

(OFF TOPIC RANT) What I would like to see is the ability to set a default starting number on a per-satellite basis, so no matter how many rescans you do, you could always know that all the channels from a single satellite are next to each other. Makes it real inconvenient with a motor when I'm watching 97 and there's a channel interspersed within the range that's all the way over on 123. If I could specify for example that 97 starts at channel 1000 and 123 starts at 2000, this would not happen.

I'm thinking more so that the hackers can use the same channel system as Dish does....by using SID numbering. I know my Coolsat 8000 does that option when sorting...so it loks goofy on 97W since alot of the Globecast channels are in the 1000-3000 category on a Globecast receiver

Ok, the SID numbering sounds like my issue. I guess I'll go get the newest factory firmware and be happy.

Coolsat 8000 allows that. I sort by transponder and it puts all them in order of TP by satellite...however they are labelled in the dish setup.

I went E to W with 123W first, then 61.5,72,74,79,82,83 etc

so when I say sort it sorts them that way
