I'm most probably going to be moving into a new house. If that's the case, plus if the back yard is spacious enough, I'm looking into dropping D* and going C-Band.

Two questions. First, I'd like to go with HD and use Myth TV (a home brew type of PVR). Myth needs a non encrypted signal coming from the receiver. Is that the case with the HDD200?
I also noticed that the HD unit does not have a DVI/ HDMI out. Anybody know if that might change in the future?

Thanks.

If you figure a sub <$1000 way to get HD from the component cables to your PC you'll be a millionaire.

Your best bet with a HDD200 (or even just a 922 if you haven't bought the stuff yet) is the R5000 mod. If you want to record the 480i downvconvert then Myth shoudln't have any trouble with that.

Don't hold your breath waiting for an update for the HDD200. I think Motorola has 4DTV on a maintain only thing and even that is minimal at best.

On the positive side, NPS has hinted that there may be some new HD hardware coming down the pike. Anything new would surely have DVI / HDMI options. It's all vaporware at this point, don't get over anxious.

I'm still trying to talk myself into an HDD200.

I don't think you're going to be able to do what you want with a stock hdd200. You'll probably need an r5000hd mod to get things working with Myth. Even then, I'm pretty sure there's some issues with integration but I think folks have been able to make it work to some degree. It's unlikely you'll see changes to the hdd200, as they are no longer manufactured.

You can't go wrong with big dish HD or SD, but be ready it is not a plug and play system like pizza and cable, you are free :)
