Republic Wireless shutting down as Dish moves customers over to Boost Infinite

Bm is prepaid and bi is post paid.
And they have what's called a smart network. It can automatically switch between dish's own 5g network as well at att and tmobile. However you need a compatible device. Without a compatible device I believe you get a sim for att or mobile. Not sure if it's strictly address based or other factors.

This is from the site:

All iPhone 15 models are compatible with the Boost Wireless Network — America's Smart Network. The Android devices listed below are compatible when purchased directly from Boost Infinite. Stay tuned for future updates as more compatible devices become available.

Apple

  • iPhone 15
  • iPhone Plus
  • iPhone 15 Pro
  • iPhone 15 Pro Max

Samsung

  • Samsung A23 5G

Motorola

  • Motorola razr
  • Moto g 5G - 2023
  • Moto g 5G
  • Moto g stylus 5G - 2023
  • Motorola edge+ - 2023
  • Motorola edge+ - 2022

Thanks got it. And that explains why they are pushing the 15 models.

Note that T-Mo has now MUCH better coverage, and some say it is #2. Now and then.

I still find TMo to be quite inferior to ATT and VZW. At least in the northeast and FL. If you’re in a city 100% yes I might even say they are #1, but venture outside that and all bets are off.

Also, I think VZW is lagging behind ATT. I think they have oversold their network with MVNOs and it can’t handle it.

I have Verizon in Central Florida, sucks also unless you are in a metro area.

No 5G options either from all 3 at my house, if I did not use wifi calling, I would never receive or make a call, luckily I have Charter for that.

Sorry, had trouble following this. Which is the prepaid one? BI or BM? I have held off on switching to BI because it’s a crap shoot which sim you get - att or TMo. Unless they can get me an ATT sim, I won’t switch, and from what everyone on the interwebs say, they have zero control over which sim you get. They are at the mercy of what their system determines is best.

Neither are Boost Mobile. As far as I know they both use Boost Infinite.
The Pre-paid plan allegedly uses the best service at your home address

My SIM card went wonky on my Boost Mobile phone (Samsung A23). I did all the normal stuff. Reboot, turn off reboot, turn off / remove card / re-enter card, reset network, reset the darn phone. None of it worked.

Went on the Boost app, did a chat, got in contact with someone on Friday evening almost immediately. They asked a couple questions, didn't ask me to repeat stuff I already said I had performed. Less than 5 minutes, a new SIM card on the way.

Get the SIM card. Put it in, contact them on App again. About 5 minutes later, I'm back on the mobile network. Was really impressed with the chat as I did a reboot of the phone, and was able to easily continue the chat on the app.

Not happy the SIM card plonked out on me, but the customer service was impeccable in speed and effectiveness.

FYI, my SIM card is still good.

Got an email, they are merging Boost Infinite with Boost Mobile. Not certain why.
email said:
Boost Mobile is now one wireless carrier. Our network is not just new, it’s better. We built thousands of towers across the country. All pure 5G. Our new network is engineered for speed, power, flexibility, and affordability. That means more accessible plans with more payment options and services that cater to everyone’s needs.

The new Boost Mobile Network will simplify your experience, empower your choices, and support your wireless journey.
They boast 99% national coverage, so they aren't talking about just their network. I've been very satisfied to this point, but their site seems to be overselling what they are serving.

From Jan. 2024

Boost Mobile aand Spectrum Mobile are mobile virtual network operators, or MVNOs. This means that they purchase service access wholesale from one of the three major networks that own infrastructure across the country – AT&T, Verizon, and T-Mobile – giving customers service at a much cheaper price.

And the best thing is USMobile because they give you access to AT&T, Verizon and T-Mobile. You just have to manually switch to the carrier you want online.
Assuming your phone is white listed by AT&T (ask me how I know). Does anybody really want Verizon? That leaves T-Mobile. I dropped USMobile and Consumer Cellular and went with Tello. Unlimited talk & text plus 2 GB of 5G data (I don't really use much data) all running on T-Mobile for $10 a month. I also replaced the POTS line with an Ooma Telo unit running on the Internet. Cut my phone bill by almost $75 a month. There are too many MVNO's out there for Boost to grab much market. Their only hope is company owned infrastructure and I'm not finding much if any news on buildout, just one internal restructure/merger after another. That ain't getting it done. If Dish were making any serious progress with the buildout wouldn't you be seeing press releases like "Dish brings x number of towers on-line this week/month/year."? Maybe I missed them, anybody seen them?

A major portion of the MVNO market is owned by Verizon, including their own low cost VISIBLE service and all of the Tracfone Wireless brands listed below. VISIBLE is somewhat unique in offering unlimited voice, text, and data as low as $25/month. Boost has a lot of competition as you said.
  1. Tracfone
  2. Straight Talk
  3. Net10 Wireless
  4. Total by Verizon
  5. Simple Mobile
  6. Page Plus Cellular
  7. Walmart Family Mobile
  8. GoSmart Mobile
  9. Clearway
  10. SafeLink Wireless

See,,,, I just knew if I threw that Verizon dig in there all you guys would get distracted by it. My how easy you guys are lead astray. We're talking about Boost here folks, not Verizon.
Boost's status as an MVNO was brought up, so mentioning that Verizon is the biggest MVNO brand owner that Boost has to compete with was relevant IMHO.

Many people prefer Verizon due to their coverage. In my area T-Mobile is non-existent outside cities and towns. ATT just recently improved their coverage in these parts within the last year or so. Around here Verizon is king.

I’m not sure about western NC. Some Vietnam Veterans and similar out there. I’d think coverage should be a community service.

...... says the person who brought up Verison in the first place in a way that had no impact on a Boost discussion. Guess it is OK for you but not for others; get a life
