Well, I think so. ANY development which increases better television available to consumers is a good one to me, even if you can find ways to criticize. I just do not see how the launch of D10 can do anything to lessen what's available, so I can't understand why you'd ever gripe about it.
You can gripe about the idiots in the DirecTV PR dept overclaiming and overhyping everything D* does, but it's hard to gripe about what the D* engineers are trying to deliver to us.
More capacity, more channels, more competition! That's what I'm talkin' about.
Fly, Baby, fly!
I don't see anyone posting anything negative about the launch. I see several posters trying to temper the claims of DIRECTV's marketroids in an effort to put them in a realistic context.I'm in total agreement with the part about this (and all developments) that increase programming and choices to the consumers, and cannot for the life of me understand why anyone feels the need to be negative about this sat launch.

I think it is important to follow what is going on and it should not take a back seat to the myriad announcements and proclamations that DIRECTV makes.
I'll second that !Harshness is a Dish sub, maybe he has D* as well. Seems like a good guy to me. Maybe a little on the pessimistic side.
And best of all the scheduled launch date is now only 13 days away.![]()
Everyone is entitled to their opinion for sure. But until we see what is actually on the air on December 31, 2007 it is unfair to make a judgement IMO about just how close they come to their September 4, 2004 announcement regarding HD on DirecTV.
Until then it is pure speculation. I find it interesting how people 'outside' of DirecTV could be trying to 'temper' or correct information that is given out from the source (DirecTV) BEFORE the delivery date has arrived.
The days are always longer in the beginning of summerProblem is, it now seems like all the days are getting longer and longer, it still seems like a month or two away ....

Sco,
There will be plenty of people bashing D* on Jan 1 if a few channels are not up that were suppose to be up, it's an easy thing for the D* detractors to do this type of thing, others outside of D* subs are happy for the launch, tose are the ones that understand the more sats the better for the TV industry.

Fortunately, we have certain benchmarks available that must be passed along the way, so it isn't pure speculation. Along the way, we had a news item or two of delivery by the marketroids that were widely known to be before the satellite launches.Until then it is pure speculation. I find it interesting how people 'outside' of DirecTV could be trying to 'temper' or correct information that is given out from the source (DirecTV) BEFORE the delivery date has arrived.
