Dish500 does work but yeah it's a pain to line up and my signal strengths aren't so great with it.
i am using the original dish 1000 with two dpp singles and picking up 61.5/72.7 just fine strenght of 60 on the 61.5 and strength of 40 on the 72.7. aldo have the dish 1000+ pulling in the 110/199 with all going to a dpp 44 switch.los is too low foe129 with an elevation of 20. i did try a dish 500 tohit 61.5/72.7 but could not pick up so that is why i went with the original dish 1000 with the wider reflector.
Using the same transponders as Delta_Charlie for comparison, my Dish500Hack with the spilt yolk gives these readings:Dish peaked on 61.5 TP 20 signal Q on VIP 222 57%, split on both 45%
Dish peaked on 61.5 TP 32 signal Q on VIP 222 53%, split on both 41%
Dish peaked on 72.7 TP 19 signal Q on VIP 222 53%, split on both 46%
Dish peaked on 72.7 TP 32 signal Q on VIP 222 52%, split on both 49%
THIS POST IS OLD BUT THIS IS EASY!! ON THE OLD 2 DISH INSTALLS LEAVE THE 61.5 AS IT IS USE THE DPP SET IT AT 90 DEG PROPER ELEV FOR SAT 72 AND POOF YOU HAVE ALL THE HD PROGRAMMING FOR EAST COAST NEW ENGLAND I AM DOING IT AND WORKS GREAT!!! ME NH VT ETCI have the feeling that this will not work because I have not seen this solution posted here, but I just HAD to ask!
I am in the 61.5/110/119 group so I can't get the new channels. I have the usual setup with a dish 500 for 110/119 and a separate wing dish for 61.5. In thinking about my dish set up, I couldn't help wondering if there was any way to use the current setup for eastern arc.
For example, is it possible to use the dish 500 to point at 61.5/72.7 and then use the wing dish for 77? Or, is it possible to use the dish 500 to point at 72.7/77 and then leave the wing dish at 61.5.
I know that the Dish 500 is meant for 110/119 which are 9 degrees apart, but by setting a different skew, will it work for 61.5/72.7 (11.2 degrees apart), or 72.7/77 (only 4.3 degrees apart)?
Is an eastern arc dish the only solution for me in eastern connecticut?
Many HD locals are still on 61.5.
