ReplayTV "PC Edition" to Debut at Digital Experience in New York

DVR Pioneer Set to Redefine the Category Again Cupertino CA., May 10, 2006 — ReplayTV®, the pioneer of digital video recording , today announced that it will debut and demonstrate ReplayTV PC Edition, its next-generation DVR software solution for the PC, at Digital Experience in New York on June 28.

Capitalizing on over seven years of award-winning DVR innovation, the new ReplayTV PC Edition DVR is an intuitive solution designed to be powerful yet easy-to-use. The affordable ReplayTV PC Edition can easily be added to a PC and is ideal for many types of consumers, including people who want a powerful DVR for their main room, those whose living room DVR is in constant use, or others who want a second DVR in the home. It offers a host of logical and easy-to-use features that will redefine the DVR experience for PC users . Here are just a few of the innovative features available with ReplayTV PC Edition:
• An all new user experience designed for extremely fast and intuitive operation;
• Easy and familiar TV-oriented ways to find and record precisely the shows and movies you want to see, including useful searches of Primetime Shows, Season Premieres, or Season Finales and many others popular categories;
• Intelligent Real-Time Networking, enabling the ability to watch DVR content in other rooms from other devices.
Bill Loewenthal, ReplayTV’s VP/GM, noted: “ReplayTV PC Edition is the DVR solution that we have longed to deliver to true TV enthusiasts. After listening closely to consumers currently using PC-based DVR applications, we learned that existing products fall short of offering the easy-to-use, reliable, lifestyle features that people really want. Users will value how we’ve combined useful features with our way of doing things – the ReplayTV way, demonstrated by logical approaches to how features work and how information is presented. The result empowers users with a dramatically enhanced PC DVR experience.”
Mr. Loewenthal also noted that ReplayTV has made its shift to the PC market in large part because the personal computer is globally the fastest growing video entertainment platform.
ReplayTV PC Edition is designed for a broad range of consumer users from those who wish to use as part of their main home entertainment system to people looking for secondary DVR solution. It’s also ideal for PC users who will discover that ReplayTV PC Edition is simply the best way to enjoy an enhanced DVR experience.
Further details about ReplayTV PC Edition will be released at Digital Experience.

It's still inconvenient to use with satellite, and won't do satellite HD at all. It might do cable HD if used with a tuner that supports CableCARD. I wonder if it will be compatible with the new PC interface that DirecTV is working on?
