Replacement Hopper and DVR

Long story short, I received a replacement Hopper for one that was thought to be bad. The original started working again.

There are programs on the DVR that I want to keep. My EHD now says it needs reformatting on the original Hopper so I can't transfer the DVR programs to that. I'm afraid if I say yes to the reformat it will actually do it and I would lose everything on the EHD.

What can I do? Is it possible to self install the new Hopper temporarily and do a transfer or should I take the chance that the reformat of the EHD won't actually reformat

Contact Dirt. They need to re-activate the original for EHD...if they can at this point. What happened that didn't?
