Has anyone took the LNBF block off of a Dish 1000 and placed it on a superdish? I've seen posts where people have added an LNB to get 129, however, what about swapping the whole assembly?

I just bought a used superdish for $15 bucks. We'll give this a shot. Planning on putting the LNBF from my Dish 1K on the end of the superdish arm. (to keep the focal length intact.)

Here in mid MICH I get signal strength of 100 for 110, 103 for 119 and 78 for 229. When rain moves in I get pixalating and picture freeze. When I rains a little hard.....picture loss. I've had a CBAND dish since 84 and never lost the picture....even on KU. Don't use it anymore tho........can not get hardly any virgin signals anymore. That is why I have went to HD but, that 1000 dish is quite small I think.

I don't have a Dish 1000, but I'm thinking that the perimeter of the arm on the SD 121 is larger than the arm on the Dish 1000 - but more importantly it is bigger than the opening on the W-Bracket from the 1000.

If the same size - good, but in either case, when you try it, you may have to move the Dish 1000 assembly inward or outward to get the correct focal point(s). Plus, your skew, elevation, and azimuth will change.

If it wasn't for my family liking TV, I would pick up a W-Bracket and try it myself since I would rather know what makes it tick than watch TV.

I seen one post where someone took the Dish 1000+ LNBF assembly and modified it to work on a SuperDish for 119/110/118.7/129, but that is the Plus version and not the standard. Myself - I just duct taped a Dual LNBF to the side of the shroud so that I can pick up 110/119/121/129, and will make a permanent mount for it if Dish doesn't come out with the repoint kit.

Please let us know your results.

What signal strength are you getting on 129 w/ your duct taped LNBF? Where are you located?

Thanks!

I got back into town yesterday evening and noticed that I lost some channels on 61.5, particularly KBS on TP 18. It was still out a little while ago, so I switched my cables from 61.5 (Dish 500 w/I-Bracket & DP Dual) back to 121 (SD-121) to resume picking up the Korean channels used most often. Since I was doing this, I went ahead and moved my Dish 500 to 129 to see what the signals are today.

I don't believe my SD 121 is perfectly peaked for 110/119/121, but it's close enough.

Sat 129 readings on a 622, at 12:15 PM with clear skies in Denver, CO are:
Using the LNBF duct taped to the side of the SD-121 signals are 66 to 70; and
Using the Dish 500 w/I-Bracket signals are 69-74.

To make sure I have no issues with the management here, my dishes are mounted on the inside of the balcony which seems to give me reduced signals. However, I can still receive a signal on my Dish 500 from 61.5, 110, 119, 129, & 148.

Smitty - Is there an easy way to view the sat/transponder number from something other than the dish pointing screen on the ViP622? I thought there was a hot button of sort that did this, but I am not sure what it is.

Thanks.

I don't think so, maybe someone else will know.

I only know of Menu, 6, 1, 1. But I select the channel first, sometimes with just the up error (especially for a channel I don't subscribe to) and then hit Menu 611 to get the signal for that channel (Sat/TP).

thanks! :) I didn't realize the current sat/transponder would be displayed!

Planning on trying my dish 1k to superdish conversion this weekend (been too busy after work this week) Also, mgmt in my house has shows TIVO'ed (oops, can't get out of the habbit of saying TIVO vs DVR) and I can't disrupt things right now.

From the looks of it, your LNBF that's duct taped is atleast on the correct side of your dish! Looks like your 119 signal strength is compromised for the 121 signal strength. I am going to dial mine in for 110/119 and move the 129 LNB around until I can dial that guy in. I don't have a need for 121 since I am not versed in any other languages. :-(

I'll take pics once I am done (if it works). I hope I can get my 129 in the 80s for signal strength. That's the goal! If the signals are no better than the high 60s/low 70s that I get now on the dish 1k, then this will be pointless.

Thanks again for the info and pics! :)

I'm hoping to replace the shroud on my SD 121 with a repoint kit to convert it to a Dish 1000+ with extra large dish. If not, then I will get some rectangle pipe from an old dish laying around, and make a mount for the extra LNBF for 129. Otherwise the duct tape will work for a few more weeks. Yesterday I noticed it was starting to sag, so I added some more about the time the weather was going bad and brought up the bad weather signals.

Signal strengths. They are relative and can be used for comparison under like conditions, such as improving the current configuration, but are not scientific. In any case, I do not have pixelation.

I have the same problem here with trying to play with the equipment and 2 kids out of school.

Good luck.

Not me, I do know that Sadoun "http://www.sadoun.com/Sat/Order/Dishes/Dish-Network-Satellite-Dish.htm"shows they are NOT in stock yet.

On one post past couple of days, someone said they just installed their Dish 1000+ during the night, and I thought they said they got it from The Dish Store, who link is also at the top of the forum pages. It appears they are selling it in pieces, you start with a Dish 500+ without the switch and mounting arm/foot, and then keep adding from there. Also, the 129 bracket is included but without the extra LNBF for 129.

But verify what you are ordering first.

EDIT: I just found a link to the thread where a 1000+ was bought.
