I have a HR24-500, and use a Sherwood AV receiver for sound. The DTV remote will control the sound on the Sherwood, but I have to move the switch to do so.

Is there a way to make the remote control the sound while the switch is still in receiver mode. It is a pain to have to switch back and forth. My cable remote would do this and was wondering if there was a way with the DTV remote.

Thanks in advnce!

There is. It will control volume in all modes. Go to the remote control menu in the system setup and choose the mode where you want your audio equipment. Follow setup instructions. After you program the volume by repeating step 2 and entering 993 press "select" instead of "volume down."

You don't have to go back to the HR24 menus since it's already programmed. Slide selector switch ofthe remote to the position you programmed the Sherwood and press/hold mute+select until the LED above the selector switch flashes, then press 993, then select. This will allow the Sherwood to control volume and mute in all positions.

If you want to control your TV volume in TV position only, slide selector to TV and do the same except use the volume down button (select/mute,993,volume down). This will not change the Sherwood's volume and mute controls in the remaining positions (Directv, AV1, & AV2).

You only need the remote in hand to do these steps.

Does this , press 993, then select. work for ALL recvrs ?

With the slide switch in the DTV position, and the code from above, how does the recvr know to turn the A/V revr up vs the TV then ?
