remote probs need advice

Just yesterday some buttons on my remote stopped working....They do not cause the LED on the remote to light when they are pushed. I've swapped out the batteries and reset the DVR and neither action has changed anything. The buttons that dont work are the power on off buttons and the active and guide, menu and info buttons, every other button seems to work.
I do not have the protection plan. What's the cheapest way to get a working remote again? The DVR i s an HR22 and the remote has RC64R at the top left.

Call up D* & see what they'll sell you a new one for - they might give it to you for FREE, or next to nothing. Make sure you tell them you want another RF remote, so it will be either what you now have, or an RC65R.
If not, check out e-bay...

Did you try resetting the remote ?

Directv Remote reset

To reset all the functions of the remote control to the
factory defaults (the original, out-of-the-box settings),
follow these steps:
1. Press and hold the MUTE and SELECT keys at the same
time until the green light flashes twice, then release
both keys.
2. Using the number keys, enter 9-8-1. (The green light
flashes 4 times.)

I called and they sold me a new one for 14.95 then a day later my old one started working fine again....The new one is still in the box.

Especially at THAT cheap of price - keep it for a spare/backup...
