So I'm using the 6.3 IR/UHF PRO remote with my 722 DVR, and I'm experiencing significant response lag.

I'll depress a button and it will take one or even 2 seconds to get the desired response. Sometimes, intermittently, it won't respond at all.

This has been going on for months

New batteries didn't help. Moving closer to the DVR doesn't seem to help either.

What's my diagnosis, Doc?

Sounds like a directv receiver. I have seen this once before on a 722 and holding down the power button on the front panel until it reboots fixed it.

truecrimson's comments about the fluorescent lights is a vaild concern as well as they'll drown-out the IR commands. Also, keep in mind that a plasma or an LCD TV puts out an emormous amount of IR light as well.

I have seen the same issue as well not only on the 722 but also on the 522. It used to not be that way but it is now.

I too have noticed this issue, first on my 625 and now with my brand new 722. It acts like marginal batteries, but brand new batteries don't help.

Come to think of it, my 501 is doing this too. The 501 and 625 definitely did not do this before. I'll try the power cycle trick and see if that helps.

Sounds like a dirty remote. Grease and crumbs build up on the touchpad. You can either get a new one for $50, have the nearest provider clean it or take out the batteries, unscrew the screw, pry open the two halves and be astounded at the gunk you find on the rubber touchpad. Clean it off with alcohol on both sides, let dry and put it back together. I believe this voids any warranty tho. I've done this several times with no problem.

There are a number of ways to achieve better function on a TV2 remote. Here are a number of the solutions used:

Lag in response (channels being slow to change) is sometimes due to low signal, also. Since you haven't mentioned pixilation or loss of signal lock, I would continue to focus on the remote.
