I just relocated my HD TV and DISH Receiver to another room and the receiver does not find a signal. I called and spoke with tech support and he said that since I moved the receiver to another room a technician whould have to come out and to make this work, and charge me 99 dollars to do it. I'm sure everything has been hooked up correctly as all I did was plug the power in and connect the cable line from the wall in the new room to the splitter going to the receiver.

If a tech in needed for something lengthy and complicated, then so be it, I'd rather him come out so I don't mess something up, but if this is something simple that I can do, I'd rather save the money.

Thanks for the help:)

When you say cable line from the wall in the new room, that is probably your problem. You need to re-run the cable from the DISH to your new location. Same for the cable going to TV2.

Have you traced the cable in the new room back to see if it's connected to the dish? Did you have service on the line before moving this receiver in there?

Negative to both your questions. What I neglected to say in my question is that I switched the location of my two tv's, moving the HD and Receiver to the den, and then moving the standard tv to the living room, so I would assume the cable is connected as I had setellite recepetion in both rooms before the move. Talking with a friend this morning, he told me that I need to manually realign the satellite dish until I get reception?

Just need to make sure you are clear about the CABLE FROM THE DISH has been re-routed to your NEW location. There is no reason to maually re-align the dish if the above has been done.

Was the standard tv on tv2 out of the HD receiver? Meaning you had no receiver in the den before.

KAB & tsduke,

Thank you both for your help.

KAB - I understand your point and I will need to look into this with the help of a neighbor. I did have satellite reception in both rooms before I made the switch, so it doesn't make sense, but I'm a novice at this. If it helps, I get Error Message 530.

tsduke,

To clarify your question, TV1 (the HD TV) was connected to the receiver, which was in the living room. TV2 was the standard TV in the den. I simply switched them, to where the HD TV and Receiver are now in the den, and TV2 is now in the living room, and connected the cables from the walls. Both TV's and satellite signal worked fine before the switch.

Thanks again to both of you:)

If both tv's were running on 1 receiver before the switch here is how is wired.

-Cable from dish to seperator(looks like splitter).
-From seperator two lines go into receiver. 1 for tuner 1 and the other for tuner 2

To feed tv 2(sd tv)
-A coax will run from the tv2 out of theback of the hd receiver into your den.

If this is how it was hooked up then you only have one hot feed from the sat dish and that was to you living room. The line from the dish would need to be run to your den instead.
