Hello - is the reflector of a Dish500 the same as a Dish1000 ?

By reflector I mean the ovaloid metal 'dish' piece. I have a damaged 1000 and am wondering if I could use a 500.

Nope, the D500 is smaller than the D1000. There is a recent thread with the dimensions for both dishes. The D500 will get you 2 satellite orbital locations, the D1000 will get you 3 satellite orbital locations thus it's bigger.

No, the the pan of the 1000 is oval and I believe the arm will not fit the pan ( I played around with the 1000 a D* Phase III and Dish 300 arms last fall)...

the arm will fit the pan, except the arm has two holes off center where as a 500 arm has one hole in the center for the bracket.
