The introduction of episode and first-showing date information was great but movies now all "begin" on January 1 of their year and many programs show the introduction date or such instead of the show date, see any news program.

I use this to check "Northern Exposure" for new shows. This used to show the full month-day-year of the episode's first showing. Now it just shows the year--yes, it was 15-17 years ago. Fortunately IMDB has the complete list with different episode numbers! but with the full date. Why? Well it helps with episode-to-episode continuity. Only the first 3 of 6 seasons are being shown on Universal HD. The second set has more episodes (25 24 23) than the first set (8 23 17) for a total of 110. Sure looking forward to the second set.

I thank Satellite Guys for keeping the last visit date for more than 5 minutes or so like the other board. This gives time to finish reading a whole thread or to get a drink or you know without being marked as having been there before I have. In fact, Satellite Guys seem to database which threads I've seen and not just use the last visit date.

Which part didn't you understand?--I try to rephrase some of my statement.

The first (to me) invocation of the information at the bottom of the guide had month and day as well as year for movies and some older series like "Northern Exposure".

Now it just has the year. The refinement is needed (1) to see the series in the right order or (2) to understand the difference in "copyright" or release year dating between Dish (Tribune) and reference books especially when movies come out near the end of year in limited release.
