So Matsuzaka is in a Boston uniform and the big question is how many wins can you expect from at $100Million. Everyone has very high expectation for a guy who has never thrown a ball in MLB but yet scouts, analysts are all saying that he is the real thing. If Matsuzak only delivers 10 wins in 2007 is that worth $100million? What is worth $100million?

100 million ?
Did he sign for a 100M for 1 year or is the 100 over a number of years ?

I figure him to have 11-15 wins this year

I hope Shilling is back to his normal self this year, as well

Where have you been? 51 million (actually 6 bilion yen) went to his old team for the right to talk to him (but if there ws no signing te sox did not have to pay). the rest is spread over several years and ther are lots of incentives and some perks like translator.

His base salary conists of a $2 million signing bonus with a $6 million salary in 2007, $8 million in each of the following three seasons (2008–2010), and $10 million in each of the final two years (2011–2012).

Not shabby at all. But this was not exactly done on the QT. It wasa media circus.

His base salart

I had heard plenty about it, just didn't know what the final outcome was.
It is quite rediculas to demand a team pay 51 million to talk to the player, or 51 cents for that matter.
As long as the guy was not currently under contract... If he was under contract maybe the japaneese team would like a Redsox player , maybe a "To be named later " guy.
