It is my understanding that there is a one time EHD fee of $40 to activate DVR functionality with the 211/211k, after which there is NOT a monthly DVR fee. Is this correct?

If this is true, then the break-even point is about 6 months (versus a "native" DVR machine lie the 611), after which there is a monthly savings. $84+ per year for DVR capability doesn't sit well with me...

If you are paying for locals, then DISH has a deal where locals + DVR fee is $10/month total. So that's like $60 a year for DVR fees. With a 211/211k I believe you can only record one thing at a time (or maybe two if one is OTA) whereas with a 722 you can record two sat programs and one OTA (or two with the k model) all at the same time.

Where did you get $84/year? The normal DVR fee I thought was $5.99/month.

Thanks for all the replies (especially dahenny :) )

I thought I read that HD DVR fees are$7/mo?

I don't get locals from Dish (they aren't offered). I get basic cable (has ClearQAM local nets) and I also have a rediculously large antenna that mostly works.

Question about "moving" with Dish

Actual Difference Between 722 & 722k?
