Recording from HDMI Output

Who has done this successfully? I heard you have to convert HDMI to Composite video or something first, the type with left right and video rca jacks.

Next, what device would you use to do the actual digital recording?

I see there are no HDMI input on this device, then one must convert to component video.
What would be a good converter?

I use an AverMedia PCI-e card that supports up to 60fps/1080p with HDMI, component and composite inputs.

I have the HDPVR 2. It has HDMI input. I use a powered HDMI splitter that bypasses HDCP to archive some things in HD with the hauppauge to the computer
