Record not working on Shaw 630

Before I call up north, I'm wondering if it is an easy fix. I was home in Canada, came back and the time on my Shaw PVR was frozen. I could watch TV, but I couldn't use the recording or add programmes to record. I rebooted the machine, everything went fine, I was able to get the guide, set a show to record and all my recorded programming was there.

I went to watch some recorded shows yesterday, clicked PVR and it said my PVR list was empty and it will not let me record anything. There was a message that my protected recordings were full and I can't record anything unless I delete some shows. yet, they are all gone. When I fixed the problem a few days ago, there was still 30% space and not a lot to record.

I don't know what happened. I see there was some external harddrive addition. Has this caused any problems? All I know is it worked fine after the reboot, all my shows were there. Now I have nothing and it won't let me record or set shows to record.

Any ideas?
 
Hmm anyone??? I called and unplugging it worked temporarily. It freezes and when it freezes,it removes the recording list. It is a PITA. Anyone have any idea???
 
there was a recent update to the firmware (8.26) which has caused problems like yours to others. i would suggest looking at the forum on digitalhome dot ca
 
Also sounds like the hard drive could be failing. Had one do the same thing and after a week of freezing etc it would not boot anymore.
 
Hi sparksals do what frenchophile said, people are talking about exactly the problem you said. Look for the thread about the sw update there's also one for 630 owners. Good luck!
