record hdtv channels question

is the 942 the way to go to record hdtv and voom channels? i bought the 811 and i kick myself everyday for not getting the 942 ,

so my question is what is out there to record dish network hdtv channels that i can use with the 811 ?
i thought i could do it with my computer , i bought the MyHD MDP-130 card butt that dont work , i can record it useing s video butt play back quality is really bad , is there any dvr's out there that will let you record dish network hdtv ,

Not in Hd... but I use both Replay Dvr's and a Panisonic dvd Recorder(dvd ram) with S-video in and get pretty good downrezzed... Standalone Tivos will do same...

I don't believe there's any consumer product that will record HD. The way these HD DVRs or HD tuner cards in PCs accomplish it, is by saving the entire compressed bit stream to the hard drive. The end result is whether the bit stream is coming in live or from the hard drive, it's decoded back to full HD resolution.
