ok i'm looking at different receiver thresholds... i would like to maybe find one that goes a little lower. but i don't know if its actually a receiver or dish

some receiver can receive lower readings my coolsat 5000 its close to 60 probably can actually say 63 is where it starts reading. And ice since youve tested a few receivers you might be able to place some input here. Is there a receiver that handles lower signals better .. just wonder what i'm missing below 63%

we can start a list but for every dish size it would be different

its not the receiver. They all read different

If I went through the boxes I've worked with here is the threshold (off the top of my head)

Coolsat 5000 & 4000 is 63
Coolsat 8000 is around 33-34
Pansat 1500 is 30-32
Fortec Ultra is 40
Captiveworks is 35
Fortec Classic is 40
Pansat 5000/6000 is around 35 but a stable picture drops when it gets below 45
Samsung was 34-35
Buzz was 40 or so
Viewsat I dont remember

so each box fluxuates

But it also depends on signal and FEC. I wondered that the other day why on my Pansat 1500 the G3 stuff (Equity) I get pixelation with a 60 quality yet the nets I can get down to 25 before the picture goes kaput. The higher the FEC (7/8 vs. 3/4) the more signal you need to keep it stable because the receiver needs to work harder
My thread on that
