Receiver Shut Off

Is it possible for the receiver to automatically shut off itself?

I am getting this problem recently and I am not sure why it is shutting off itself in the middle of something. My recording on the DVD recorder is all mess up because of this.

What receiver? Is it possible that you've set the sleep timer?

Shutting a receiver off will not affect a recording in progress.. A reset or power outage will cause it.. But it just turning off won't hurt anything.

The OP is recording to a DVD recorder. So, I asked about the receiver because the OP didn't indicate that he has a DVR. If he's recording from a non-DVR receiver then the recording would be messed up if it shut off early. And if a DVR did shut off (standby) while recording to a DVD recorder it would mess up the recording since the outputs are turned off in this case.
