Hey everyone,

Have a quick question about receiver ID #s.

I have been looking on my local craigslist for some used receivers and calling directv to check the receiver id.

Almost every one I have called about either wasn't ever returned or still belonged to an active account.

However, this last time I called they checked 3 different numbers for me, and she says "nothing came back when she entered those numbers" to which I said "does this mean they CAN be activated on my account" and she says "yes, if nothing comes back when I enter the number, that means they can be used."

She sounded really unsure of herself when she was explaining this, so I thought it be a good idea to see what the consensus is here in regards to our conversation.

Thanks!

Call again and ask to talk to someone in the access card department....

You will need to replace the access card.

Make the deal, Call directv and order new access cards for the receivers.

Make the seller wait a few days.

When you get the access cards, call and activate the receivers on your account before you pick them up.

When you get home, call for a rehit

Usually when you activate them they want to know for sure your getting a picture ... your gonna do this ahead of time before you even know if they work when your getting it from a stranger ?

I don't think I would do that.
