It depends on what you mean by improve. It may stop pixelating, or breaking up, but it will not look any more detailed.

Well, the DirecTV tech who came out yesterday to align my 5LNB "sidecar" setup made it look easy. But, I'm sure much skill is involved, especially when your 103b transponders averaged 38 and 17. Now they are high 80s to low 90s and high 70s to low 80s, and I have no picture problems. It took him all of 20 minutes, and he used a meter.

I just enrolled two days before in the monthly maintenance plan, and the tech told me that DirecTV is covering all the alignment charges. I thought you had to wait 30 days before the maintenance plan was activated.
