RC64R remote question*Blue ray

Hey everyone, newbie here, just got upgraded to HD w/ DirecTV, including new reicever and 5 LNB. New Sony TV, A/V and Blue Ray.

So far so good but I can't get the remote to work the Blue Ray, I've tried every code out there and can't get it. Is there a code that works or do I have to go get a logitech harmony??? HElp

Or Theater Master MX500 (500 is manual or 700/800 connects to computer for code download like Logitech). Very thorough remote with great learning capabilities. Just my $0.02

The mx-500's library is 8 years old, there won't be any preset codes for the blu-ray, nor the current directv receivers. So you would have to teach and every command from both components, but there is plenty of memory to do so.

The only preprogrammed universal remote that have seen with a list of blu ray players codes, is recent URC WR7 remote.

can't find any info on the URC WR7 remote, is it a new Directv remote??

I have heard that the Logitech Harmonies will do the trick, I'll research that a bit more.

No, its URC made remote, very similar to R7, but with fully backlighted keys and more upto date code library. And has the color keys, well at least a color line on the keys. So far I have only saw it at walmart, I had it and returned it. Just wanted to examine it more closely, to find out what was the difference was between the R7 and WR7.

Edmunds right there. Your better off get URC remote and programing it to work your blu- ray and you Directv box. Sorry about that.

The learning aspect is the only way to go in my experience. Most times the preprogrammed keys are not where I want them or do what I want them to do. The MX 500 is older, but FULLY capable (as noted above). The MX versions that connect to the computer via USB (similar to the Logitech 880 and other models) will have the latest codes delivered/downloadable from the main site. So being up-to-date comes with th higher price tag. But if you want to save a few bucks, just about any learning remote can do the trick...I just prefer my MX500. I have tried the Logitech, but it is overly simple and complicated at the same time. Had much more difficulty programming the logitech to do what I could with the MX500 in about 5 minutes time.

Just my opinion...I could be wrong.
