I just had my Fantasy Football Draft yesterday. We have a 12 team auction style league, where we draft 14 players. IMO, the auction style brings a whole new element to the draft. How you spent the allotted dollars is key to how you construct your team.

We can start either 1 QB, 2 RB, 2 WR, 1 TE, 1 DEF/ST or: 1 QB, 1 RB, 3 WR, 1 TE, 1 DEF/ST.

QB's: Derek Anderson, Trent Edwards
RB's: Laurence Maroney, Darren McFadden, Ricky Williams, DeAngelo Williams, Steve Slayton
WR's: Terrell Owens, Plaxico Burress, Calvin Johnson, Mushin Muhammad
TE: Jason Witten
K: Adam Vinatieri
DEF/ST: New York Giants

Just what we need, another pre-season football poll.:D
Your QB's will bury you.

How's Calvin Johnson supposed to be Paul? I drafted him ahead of Roy Williams. It seems as if Williams has a knack for injuries, so I shyed away from him. Maybe a bit of optimism, but I'm expecting big things from Calvin this year. Hopefully he won't disappoint as my #3 WR.

I drafted the ideal team:

- QB : Donovan McNabb
- WR: Braylon Edwards
- WR: Donte' Stallworth
- WR: Derrick Mason
- RB: LaDanian Tomlinson
- RB: Ryan Grant
- TE: Benjamin Watson
- K: Mason Crosby
- DEF: Philadelphia

- BN: Jake Delhomme
- BN: DeSean Jackson (He's going to be this year's Colston, I guarantee it)
- BN: Brett Favre
- BN: Matt Forte
- BN: DJ Hackett
- BN: Ryan Longwell

Big things to come from Calvin this year....Good Pick, I will ask you about mine(especially since I have some browns)

Ten Teams PPR: I was picking 9 out of 10 teams

QB: Haseleck, Schaub
WR: B. Edwards, W. Welker, Roy Williams, Santana Moss, Chris Henry (16th round flyer)

RB: Portis, Jamal Lewis, Jonathon Stewart, Fred Taylor, Rashad Mendenhall
TE: Heap and R. McMicheal
K. Crosby
D. Bears

Start one QB
2 RB/ 2WR
1 Kicker
1 Defense

Whats your take on Jamal, he was not who I intended to take, but guys on my list were gone.

I'm not sure on Jamal but I think Portis is your weak spot. He has had a tendency to underperform or get injured plus his backup tends to get the TDs after he does the work.

As for your WR's they look pretty good. still not sold on the QB's but love Crosby as a kicker (he's my kicker in all 5 teams)

Pretty good draft as well....Donavan, injury factor as well but many think he can have a nice year. Your Second WR/ Stallworth if can have a nice year, that could put you over the top!

You putting all of your eggs in the Browns Basket, huh? I am sure hoping for big things from them this year too. (Drafted Derek Anderson). Hopefully their crappy preseason is just an abiration...

LT should be a stud this year. The Chargers have the easiest schedule this year.

Braylon Edwards should be a top 5 WR this year. I can see him even ending up 3rd, behind TO and Moss.

I like Jamal Lewis, but have seen him slide in drafts due to his age. If healthy, I think he'll be just as good as he was last year. Reports out of Cleveland have said that he was in a off-season training program and lost about 10-15lbs. Supposedly, he's in the best shape of his life. He should definitely serve as a great #2 back.

I've only seen him in limited action, plus I hate pre-season football, it's a complete waste of time. Here's what I think. Last season I was not impressed, didn't seem to be anything special about him. I learned later that he played all season injured. Now that he is healthy, I have seen glimpses of why this guy is so highly thought of. Extreme speed, great route runner, and gigantic hands that are as soft as a baby's bottom. IF he stays healthy, look for a breakout year. He has a knack for turning small plays into long yardage. 100 catches is not out of the question, I figure him to be the lead receiver, the Lions will not be looking to pad Williams' numbers in a contract year. (Remember this is the Lions - nobody has ever accused them of being smart.) They don't want to skew the contract numbers for next season. Johnson and Kevin Smith are the only bright spots I see in the coming season. As for WR's, I think Williams has been healthy, and his numbers have been solid every season. I wouldn't shy away from him. All we can do here in Detroit is throw, the running game will see a lot more attempts compared to last year, but it still remains suspect. So expect a lot of third and long situations, and we all know what happens on those, don't we? Good luck Matt, I hope this helps.

Thanks Paul. With the more balanced attack this year (Read: Mike Martz is gone), this should open up the passing game. I know it has only been preseason, but Kitna has looked near perfect in passing situations.

It has been way to scary to see what the passing game and O line have been able to do in regards to the passing game, but then again Kitna does not have to take a seven step drop anymore

Don't plan any victory parties. But I do like the "Guiness and JBL's on the patio". I enjoy the same at my house. Like I said in the Lions thread, the defense was the worst in the NFL last season. Sure, they will be better this season, how could they be any worse?

The way my league scores Defense Detroit was tied for 7th in fantast points. Its a great league if your defense can score and not prevent scoring:D
Sack (1)
Interception (2)
Fumble Recovery (2)
Touchdown (6)
Safety (2)
Block Kick (2)
Kickoff and Punt Return Touchdowns (6)
Points Allowed 0 points (10)
Points Allowed 1-6 points (7)
Points Allowed 7-13 points (4)
Points Allowed 14-20 points (1)
Points Allowed 21-27 points (0)
Points Allowed 28-34 points (0)
Points Allowed 35+ points (0)

Well they should be better this season. This defense was good at getting turnovers last season, and the secondary is vastly improved. Now if they could do something with those LB's.

HD,

I think you'll regret not going with Chester Taylor instead of Ricky the smoker or the underachieving DeAngelo Williams. Hell, you didn't even choose your own guy, Jamal Lewis!

Mushin Muhammad? How about Marques Colston, Santana Moss or Greg Jennings.

Sabres, this was an auction draft and I had to spend my money accordingly. I spent the big bucks on my starters. I got Ricky, DeAngelo and Mushin for $1 each. There was no money left to bid on the names you suggested.

How do you like my QB's? The ole Cleveland/Buffalo combo. I expect Buffalo to actually be pretty decent this year. Trent Edwards is definitely the future of buffalo and thank God you guys ended the Lossman experiment.
