1. I will say it when he deserves it...Iverson had a good game last night, and it was a good win for the Pistons at the Spurs. Spurs are sort of back at full strength now, and the Pistons stepped up when it mattered.

2. Oh, and Chauncey had a good game for the Nuggets last night too...:D

3. I'm glad for Charlie Weis, but it must be said...he does not look like a healthy man. I fear he is working long hours and perhaps eating way too much fast food. I worry about his heart, I hope he goes to a doctor regularly.

4. Nice bounce back game by the Jets.

5. You know, the New York media makes fun of Jet fans because we're always looking at the dark side, even when we beat a previously undefeated team in November. Now you know why we look at the dark side. One botched reverse early in the game that we never recover from, and we lose to a very weak Denver team.

6. Good for the Rangers to get Scott Gomez back. I'm sure he's a role model for all the Latino-Alaskans who hope to make it to the NHL.

7. Speaking of Alaska, what happened to the Great Alaska Shootout?

8. These early season college basketball tournament are bizarre. You sometimes have two of the best teams in the country playing in tiny gyms like the one in Maui, or empty arenas like in the Virgin Islands, Puerto Rico or Orlando.

9. Actually, the best November college basketball game I saw was North Carolina at UC-Santa Barbara, while UNC was on it's way to Hawaii. It was on campus, the crowd was wild, the Gauchos gave Carolina all it wanted before running out of gas in the second half, and Jimmy Connors got arrested outside the game! All the earmarks of great college basketball.

10. So the Giants have now lost Tiki Barber, Jeremy Shockey, Michael Strahan, and hopefully Plaxico Burress. If my brothers wouldn't beat me up, I would almost consider switching allegiance.

11. Has anyone in sports had the kind of last 12 months Tom Coughlin has had? A year ago at this time the media was telling you why his approach won't working here, and discussing possible replacements. Without the comeback against Buffalo in the next to last game, he's probably out of here. Now he's revered as a Bill Belicheck without the arrogance. Giant fans don't care who leaves the team anymore, Reese finds a guy to replace him, and Coughlin finds a way to win.

12. Very excited to be watching Casino tonight, the one with Robert Deniro, after the Ranger game. I watched American Gangster not long ago, with Denzel Washington. Outstanding movie.

13. I thought Salsa was going to post a picture or something of his Henrik Lundqvist look-alike caddy? Just in case I have to settle for a cheap imitation or something. Caddy-schmaddy, who cares, as long as he looks like Hank!

14. I wonder if any free agents will sign before pitchers and catchers report?

15. I love the new Inside the NFL on Showtime. Seems like the dislike between Collinsworth and Simms is kind of real, and produces some great NFL discussions/disagreements.

16. Wanna see something funny? Come to a U-12 girls soccer game at 8 AM the Friday after Thanksgiving, it's very cold and everyone is sipping their coffee and watching the first game of a weekend tournament. Everyone is very subdued...except of course my family. Five brothers, two of whom rarely get to see my niece play, and their families, watching her. She's very good, and they're all very loud. I think they were just as happy after that victory as they were after the Rangers won game seven against the Canucks.

17. Wow, the San Jose Sharks are awesome. They're playing at a different level than the rest of the league.

18. The Mets cannot name their new stadium Citi Field, and take $20 million per year from Citibank to do it, when the bank is bailed out by the Feds. I don't think that's what the government has in mind, let alone the taxpayers, when they keep a bank afloat.

19. Good to see Greg Oden back on the court.

20. Not sure why, but I'm really looking forward to the Australian Open next month. Something appealing about watching outdoor tennis in 90 degree temperatures in January. And I really enjoyed watching tennis this year.

21. OK since triathlon training season is over, I've dialed it down a little. Still training, I do two light weights sessions at a fitness center, and three cardio excercises per week. I mix aerobic machines like elliptcal trainers and recumbant bikes in with some swimming, biking and running for my cardio exercise. I've gained 7 pounds since my September race, I'm up to 128. I'm still the same size, but my jeans aren't hanging off my waist like they did over the summer.

22. Peyton Manning is absolutely amazing. I remember thinking when I was young that despite all the attention Jerry Rice received, he still didn't get enough attention for how great he was. The same thing applies to Peyton. He is almost single-handedly leading the Colts to the playoffs.

23. Gotta love lawyers. One comes on NY sports radio yesterday and tells you why Plaxico Burress will absolutely positively do jail time. And then another one comes on and tells you why he absolutely positivily won't. Both are extremely convincing...

24. Wizards of Waverly Place. It's a kids show, well actually a tweens/teens show too, and it's very funny. The only name I remember is Selena Gomez, but they're all great actors/actresses. The Quincinera episode was one of the funniest episodes on all of television this year.

25. If the national championship game is a blowout this year, do you think people will find a way to blame Ohio State?

26. The San Diego Chargers look like they've aged about ten years in the last two years. I know Norv Turner won the playoff game Marty couldn't win, but jeesh! Didn't they used to have a good running back named Ladainian Tomlinson?

27. I received the NFL Sunday Ticket package from DirecTV this year for the first time ever. They gave me the promotion new customers get, so I'm actually saving $30 per month for four months and getting the package, but it's turned out to be a huge problem...I'm hooked! Even if they don't offer the discount next year, I have to pay whatever they're going to charge for it. It's absolutely amazing, from the game mix channel to the Red Zone channel, to Andrew Siciliano, to being able to access any game you like...oh my.

28. The NHL Network's On the Fly show is awesome to watch, especially on a night when there are a lot of games. Larry Murphy doesn't add much to the commentary, but Bill Berg, Neil Smith and Gary Green are excellent. And the highlight package of every single game is not to be missed.

29. I really think without Henrik Lundqvist playing like the best (and hottest) goalie on the planet, the Rangers are a below average team.

30. Tony Parker is an amazing point guard, even when he's not at full strength.

Weis is the white version of Romeo Crennel. Both big tubs of lard.

4. Nice bounce back game by the Jets.

I thought the whole infatuation with the Jets was a bit premature. Still a lot yet to prove.

8. These early season college basketball tournament are bizarre. You sometimes have two of the best teams in the country playing in tiny gyms like the one in Maui, or empty arenas like in the Virgin Islands, Puerto Rico or Orlando.

I love the game of College Basketball, but I just can't get that interested until around February. Maybe there's something to be said about College Football's way of doing things after all?

Outside of a MAC game, I've never been to a live, big time college basketball game. That's on the list of things to do very soon.

10. So the Giants have now lost Tiki Barber, Jeremy Shockey, Michael Strahan, and hopefully Plaxico Burress. If my brothers wouldn't beat me up, I would almost consider switching allegiance.

The Giants are quickly becoming the model franchise. Great ownership, front office, management and players who put the me-first attitude aside for the sake of the team.

11. Has anyone in sports had the kind of last 12 months Tom Coughlin has had? A year ago at this time the media was telling you why his approach won't working here, and discussing possible replacements. Giant fans don't care who leaves the team anymore, Reese finds a guy to replace him, and Coughlin does whatever it takes to win.

Heck of a roller coaster ride indeed!

12. Very excited to be watching Casino tonight, the one with Robert Deniro, after the Ranger game. I watched American Gangster not long ago, with Denzel Washington. Outstanding movie.

Both are great flicks. But, Casino! Madone! DeNiro and Scorsese were made for eachother!

15. I love the new Inside the NFL on Showtime. Seems like the dislike between Collinsworth and Simms is kind of real, and produces some great NFL discussions/disagreements.

I used to watch when it was on HBO. Besides it not being in HD, that show was considered a weekly must watch. I love how they incorporate NFL film footage into the weekly game recaps.

18. The Mets cannot name their new stadium Citi Field, and take $20 million per year from Citibank to do it, when the bank is bailed out by the Feds. I don't think that's what the government has in mind, let alone the taxpayers, when they keep a bank afloat.

Doesn't seem right to me either.

19. Good to see Greg Oden back on the court.

Yes it is. And by the looks of things, he's having quite the impact on Portland with them being in first place and all.

20. Not sure why, but I'm really looking forward to the Australian Open next month. Something appealing about watching outdoor tennis in 90 degree temperatures in January. And I really enjoyed watching tennis this year.

My cousin just recently moved to Forest Hills, NY (Queens) and landed a job with Tennis.com. I'm still trying to convince him to get an extra press pass for me so I can attend this year's US Open.

128!? You better cut down on the carbs there petunia! ;)

22. Peyton Manning is absolutely amazing. I remember thinking when I was young that despite all the attention Jerry Rice received, he still didn't get enough attention for how great he was. The same thing applies to Peyton. He is almost single-handedly leading the Colts to the playoffs.

Peyton will go down as one of the best QB's to play the game. He's one of the last remaining QB's that can actually call their own plays and audible based on how he reads the defense. A true field general.

24. Wizards of Waverly Place. It's a kids show, well actually a tweens/teens show too, and it's very funny. The only name I remember is Selena Gomez, but they're all great actors/actresses. The Quincinera episode was one of the funniest episodes on all of television this year.

I'm still trying to get my head around this one kids show I keep seeing on The Soup. (Yo, Gabba Gabba!). I don't know if it's because I'm older now, but kids shows today are CRAZY!

25. If the national championship game is a blowout this year, do you think people will find a way to blame Ohio State?

Sadly, I'm sure they'll find a way somehow.

26. The San Diego Chargers look like they've aged about ten years in the last two years. I know Norv Turner won the playoff game Marty couldn't win, but jeesh! Didn't they used to have a good running back named Ladainian Tomlinson?

It's amazing how quickly RB's skills dimish once they approach 30 in general.

The Australian Open is a great event. They have a history of great matches there. Too bad that due to the time difference most Americans don't get to see them. Australia is definitely on my list of places to visit. Watching that tournanment just makes me want to go more.

6. Good for the Rangers to get Scott Gomez back. I'm sure he's a role model for all the Latino-Alaskans who hope to make it to the NHL.
and he makes some funny commercials too. In Anchorage he is a spokesman for GCI cable the local cable company.
Here are a couple I snagged off youtube

7. Speaking of Alaska, what happened to the Great Alaska Shootout?

It still goes on but this year it was televised locally to Alaska and on FSN Northwest. Got to see most of it. The womens tourney was fun to watch. Alaska-Anchorage beat Syracuse in the finals...

the mens tourney...not so good
I remember when BIG name teams went there...this year's class
UAA
Hampton
Portland St
Northern Illinois
San Diego St
Louisiana Tech
Seattle
Western Carolina

not exactly barnburner teams

7 & 8 - At one time, the NCAA exempted games played outside the continental US from the limit of 28 games per season, which set up the Great Alaska Shootout, and its multiple imitators elsewhere in Alaska (the Top Of The World Classic), Hawaii, and the US territories. Two years ago the NCAA changed the rule to allows "exempted events" for every team. Las Vegas had 3 different tournaments going on last weekend, as did Anaheim, Mobile, San Diego, Miami, Houston, Newark, New York, and 20 other places. Plus these Hawaii and territorial games. Its a cheep way to have a "20 win season" and a way to take the kids at school expense to nice place. But it has descimated the GASO, as Anchorage is not exactly Miami. Personally, I liked the old system.

I do not understand Hawaii at all. You would think that there would be a shortage of live gate type entertainment. But the U of H does not draw, the Hula Bowl does not draw, the various bowl games do not draw, nothing draws, except the Pro Bowl. You would think that some guy in Hawaii would just say "hey, Syracuse is playing Auburn, lets go", but apparently they don't.

18 - Something like 75% of companies that buy naming rights go broke within 5 years. Lets go back to naming stadiums after dead war heroes and politicians.

27 - I just do not understand NFLST, and I guess I never will. We get 3 great games for free locally every week. Why pay for other games on at exactly the same time?

27 - I just do not understand NFLST, and I guess I never will. We get 3 great games for free locally every week. Why pay for other games on at exactly the same time?

Because your favorite team doesn't play locally. Because you have several teams you root for.

27 - I just do not understand NFLST, and I guess I never will. We get 3 great games for free locally every week. Why pay for other games on at exactly the same time?

Because you get to watch the Red Zone channel, which for non-NFLST subscribers is something you need to see to believe. During the early games, when there are 8-9 games going, it is amazing to be switched back and forth from one game to another, seeing most of what happens live, or almost immediately after it happens. With everything in glorious hi-definition.

Andrew Siciliano does a great job with the commentary, there are no commercials (when does Andrew use the bathroom!?), no extra points to watch, no replays to sit through...if there is a replay they get you back to the game as soon as the replay is going to be ruled on. It's amazing to constantly have live action from the most important thing that is happening at that moment in the league on your screen...for three hours straight.

When the early games are over I truly feel like I've watched each one. When a few games come down to the end at the same time they do a masterful job of moving you back and forth between games, sometimes showing two screens, so you miss nothing!

It works for the late games too, although it's a lot different when there are only four games on. Sometimes I stick with the RZC late, sometimes I don't. Last week I wound up switching between the Jets/Broncos and Steelers/Patriots, sprinking in some Falcons/Chargers, and virtually ignoring the Chiefs/Raiders.

But that's the beauty of it all...you can watch whatever you want! Pick a game or games you want to see, or let the RZC do it for you.

I didn't see the need for it myself...until I had it. It's kind of like people who don't have HD saying 'I don't see the big deal about HD'. Then when they see HD, they say 'Oh. Now I see the big deal'. And they don't want to go back to SD.

And I don't want to go back to having three games to watch, with the networks deciding which games I can see.

Finally...a woman that finally DOES admit it IS about looks and not "personality" or "if he could make me laugh"....;)

I owe you a pic....;)

+1. Great explanation.

Finally...a woman that finally DOES admit it IS about looks and not "personality" or "if he could make me laugh"....;)

Well it is about looks at first, of course...for girls too. But if the caddie (or anyone) has a rotten personality, his looks won't get him very far.

Sandra

A perfect explanation above for the addiction of NFL Sunday Ticket RZC(Ch#703).

Well Stated Sandra.

Oh my, I just checked this week's schedule. Seven early games, and SIX late games! Looks like a long day with me, the RZC, and Andrew Siciliano!

Doesn't get much better than that.

I'm also a Sunday Ticket subscriber (being a Jets fan living in RI, it's a must), and only wish the ratio between early and late games was like that every week.

NFL Season Tickets and the playoffs...

How do you feel about the Army/Navy Game?
