alot of times when my DirecTV go out because of rain, mine recordings are fine, so why does live tv go out? isn't a SWIM connection one wire? just out of curiosity

oh nevermind, i just checking them from tonight and they all had the 771 thing , but i know this has came in the past, but no biggie i will re record my shows later tonight

Part of it can be the channels your watching Live vs the channels your recording.
Depending on signal strength, some channels might get Searching for satellite when it rains and some others might not. It can be hit and miss.
Standard definition channels tend to come in longer than HD channels (as an example)

Fwiw, I tend to record anything Local on the OTA antenna instead, just incase the weather happens to be bad.
last night everything i was recording was like on AMC, HBO, SHOWTIME so a OTA wouldn't help

Please post the transponder strengths for all satellites. This will help to determine if you have an alignment problem.
i will later or later this week it's me a hour to hour 1/2 to type out but i don't think it alignment problem.

You can set up the Guide to show the SD versions of your channels as well as the HD versions (e.g. it will Show HBO twice, HBO and HBOHD).
Go to Menu, settings and help, settings, display, preferences.. then on "Guide HD Channels" select on "Hide SD Duplicates", then highlight and select "Show all channels". You'll get a message that it will take a few minutes to take effect, select "OK" then hit the "Exit" button on the remote.
Next time you open the guide you should start seeing 2 listings for most HD channels (One wont say HD). If your getting the SFSS message, open the guide and see if theres a non-HD version of the same channel. If there is, change to that one and see if its coming in.

when the the SFSS message come up, it will most likely knock out the SD channels also but not always
