Ya 3/4 error correction can go a long way. HITS would hold up and sometimes die only during the storm when it was a monsoon. If Direct wasn't so overloaded with crap channels on 101 they could run 3/4 FEC and that would make quite a difference. But it's all about a buck so cram as much as possible in a transponder then try to stretch it anyway you can even if it degrades reception performance.
