Q1: Does HR20 allow for scheduling of recording on the local HD channels? (I've heard no).

Q2: Does the HR20 allow for use of OTA antenna for local HDs instead of the direct spots through the satellite (which are compressed)?

If so, does this change the answer to Q1?

Q3: Does the HR20 upconvert all output signals to 720p or 1080i like the original HD box?

Q1 Yes
Q2 Yes does not change 1
Q3 No

On the conversion, I looked at the manual and I really can't tell what it's doing.

It looks like there is a "native" mode which does pass through, but it also looks like you can scale everything to any digital output, 480i, 480p, 720p, 1080i.

But I'm asking because I know these manuals are notoriously incorrect.

You are reading it correctly, you can do it in the Native mode and it will pass the signal thru, or you can tell it what resolution you want it to show.

I just read that the new MPEG4 boxes don't allow for diplexed OTA on the same coax. Is this correct?

That really sucks. Means either I have to run 1 or 2 additional coax lines (does each OTA tuner need it's own signal, or can you split it) or just use the compressed spot beam over the sat.

I assume the new 5 LNB only allows for 5 tuners on the dish. So if I have 1 HD, 1 SD, and 2 HD DVR (2*2 tuners), I probably need a 2nd dish, huh?

Yes. It's a matter of overlapping frequency ranges.

You get 4 lines max from the dish. If you need more, you can use a multiswitch to get them...let D* know when you arrange for installation and it will be included.
