Questions about tailgating

Hey guys, This is my first post and I hope I've come to the right place. :) I just switched from cable to dish a few days ago, so all of this is new to me. I searched around the forums and found some great info, but I still have a few questions.

I am a college student at MSU (mississippi state university) and I am interested in a dish-tailgating setup. I currently have 1 reciever in my house (vip 612) and I don't want to use this one for tailgating.

So here are my questions.

What kind of dish do I need?
What kind of receiver do I need?
Any other equipment? (Other than a stand, coax, hdmi, and a power source?)

I need to be able to pick up the HD channels, sd, and locals. The tailgating spot is only 2 miles from my house, with a clear view of the sky in all directions. There are tons of people that use dish (w/ hd and locals) at tailgates, so reception shouldn't be a problem.

I plan on purchasing the dish through ebay or some online retailer. As far as the receiever goes, should I just lease one through dish? If I get one through dish, is it just a matter of connecting it to the satellite and pointing the dish?

Thanks for any advice you guys can give me. :)

Your not supposed to remove leased receivers from your home and as a second receiver they cost 6 or 7 bucks a month to be "on" or they have to be returned. If you buy one you still pay the 6 or 7 bucks but only for the time it's "on" and they do pro-rate partial months so you only pay for the days or months you tailgate. And of course since you own it you can take it anywhere.

VIP211 is a good HD receiver without DVR functions. That is what I put in my travel trailer.

One obvious answer about dishes: If you want the same channels on your tailgate as your house you need the same dish. Theoretically all most all house setups use dual lnbs so a second receiver or dual tuner DVRs can share one dish which is something that usually doesn't happen but in reality most of the two or three sat dishes only come in one version and that is with is with dual lnbs.

Thanks for the info steve. I didn't know you couldn't remove them from your house.

Do you know of any good websites for purchasing the receivers and the dish? Also, is there a list of compatible receivers that I can use with dish? I'd like to price some HD/DVR's as well.
