IVe got somebody willing to sell me a dish 301 box with a card.

He said the card is blue does that mean anything?

Yep, blue cards are nagra 1 which makes them useless, you need a new yellow nagra 2 card to use that 301. Call Dish and they should be able to send you a replacement for a small fee if any.

Thanks fellas.

Yea buying it from a guy online, and I am a current customer.
Should I ask dish about this box before I buy it? Is there a way they can tell it is free and clear of any charges or does that not matter?

Definitely, just give the R00# and they will tell you it's status.

Well getting a card for a resonable price does not seem to be the case for current customers, I was told it would cost me 49 bucks.:( :( :(

I'd call back a few times until a CSR doesn't charge you. If you have no luck, tell them you'll be switching to DirecTv and have them transfer you to an account specialist to process the cancellation. If that doesn't get them to wave the fee, explain to the Acct. Specialist that you want to switch to DirecTv since they are charging for a new card....I'd say you'd have a good chance of getting it for free then. If not, 'accidentaly' lose reception on your cell phone and hang up.

Yea, umm, I am not that devistated by it, I was just surprised because a few guys here were so very sure I would get one no charge.

Im new to dish, I like it, I'm not ready to threaten leaving over a card.

something doesnt sound right. I added a box with an old blue card and I got the new one for no charge (this was 3 months ago). I would talk to the technical group (option 2)

Retailers operate under different sets of rules than customers with regard to blue/yellow smartcard issues. Different support teams and requirements.
