I have my KU band feed coming into the house hooked to a high frequency splitter then the power port side to my analog rec. The other port runs to my DVB rec. My C band feed just runs right into the analog receiver.

So I figure setup like this the only digital feeds I will get are KU band. Somehow I've found some C band freq this way. Honest to goodness I found this game the other night.

This was verified as a C band feed by another user. I was not able to receive the network feeds on Galaxy 16. So I figure well of course not the C band lnb isn't hooked up. So I change things around and run the C lnb through the splitter to both receivers and the KU to the analog alone. Now I get feeds on Ga. 16 freq 3950 SR 12296 and the one on freq 3775 SR 3255


I'm also able to get networks from Gal 95 Freq 11661 SR 6614 and 11788 SR 29110. Those are obviously KU band frequencies.

The question is how the heck am I receiving both frequencies sometimes with just one or the other type lnb hooked up to my DVB Rec?

I need to get a diseqc so I can run them both to DVB but, I'm hoping someone can shed some light on this:confused:

you're not receiving both C & KU off the one cable. The LNB LO frequency for G3 (95W) must be set to 10750 instead of 5150. I've done the same thing...forgot to change the LNB LO correctly and so I showed the nets at 3950 at something like 11900 (dont quote me on that)

I guess you have a point about the feed thing.

When I set that lnb freq thing, sometimes in the menu there is no signal on the meter when I select a certain freq. That is the reason I select one that shows strong. Perhaps I don't need to do that? Some sats with c band freq don't want to let me set it at 5150. I think I might be able to enter that freq directly though. I'll have to try it.

Is there a way I can tell what I should put it at or, do I need to change it according to the band (C/KU) that I am looking for?

Thanks Qwert, so is it correct to assume that I should only set it 10750 if it's a KU only satellite such as AMC2? If a sat has C and KU freq I should set it at 5150? Do I understand correctly?

No, if a satellite has both it is best to have two satellites on your receiver, or you have to change the LO for each band.

Example:

Galaxy 16 C LO: 5150 MHz
Galaxy 16 Ku LO: 10750 MHz

In your situation if the satellite has Ku frequencies (11700 MHz - 12200 MHz) or five digit frequencies you need to set the LO to 10750.

If it has C band frequencies (3400 MHz - 4200 MHz) or four digit frequencies you need to set the LO to 5150.

If you set the LO to one of those you can only receive one band.

I'm getting the picture now. I've noticed that my DVB receiver does in some cases have the same satellite preprogrammed in twice. For example G3C and G3/C. Both were set to 10660 or something frequency wise. This explains, as Iceberg noted, why I was getting those networks on goofy frequencies. It also explains why I've had trouble finding some posted feeds. I can see I have some work to do getting all this set right. At least now I see where all the confusion came from.
